What are Explorer Scouts?
Explorer Scouts is an opportunity for 14 – 18 year olds to meet weekly and take part in a wide range of outdoor and social activities and also, if so interested, to work towards various awards including Duke of Edinburgh and Queen’s Scout.
Although the Explorer Scouts are a District Unit, the Kingfisher Explorer Unit is affiliated with the 79th Clayton Scout Group NBC.

The unit meets on Thursday nights from 7.45pm to 9.15pm.
Outdoor activity and adventure are at the root of our programme.

Our programme is designed by our members, and as such our activities are numerous and varied. Along with the classic scouting skills of orienteering, pioneering, navigation, camping, first aid and hill walking, we enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing, night nav, survival and bivvy camping, lightweight camping etc

Many of the badges available are activity badges, which represent the pinnacle of achievement in a particular field. Whether their interests lie in Hill Walking or Performing Arts, Aviation or Public Relations, Explorers are rewarded both for developing existing strengths and undertaking new ventures.
